Red Giant Software sponsorship – AWESOME!!!

For those of you who are interested in the post-production and special effects side of the modern film industry, this is big news – we’ve gained an official software sponsorship from Red Giant Software! This is a big deal, because this company is behind some of the most intense special effects plugins known to the film industry. They have a list a mile long of films that their software is used in, including Grindhouse, The Aviator, Day After Tomorrow, Vanilla Sky, Hellboy, Spy Kids 3D, Double DareNike commercials, Good EatsESPNDisneyCNN, Good Morning America, FooFighter videos, and MTV shows.

Just some of the effects we’ll be using include:

Knoll Light Factory, created by Academy-Award winner John Knoll, the co-creator of Photoshop and Star Wars effects guru

Magic Bullet Suite, co-developed by industry guru Stu Maschwitz, formerly of Industrial Light and Magic, co-founder of The Orphanage, and author of the popular The DV Rebel’s Guide: An All-Digital Approach to Making Killer Action Movies on the Cheap (a must-have book for anyone who is even considering making their own films independently)

Trapcode plugins, which can be seen in popular movies like Terminator SalvationAngels and Demons, Sin City, Spider Man 3, Quantum of Solace, The Day after Tomorrow, etc.

Red Giant is a company about creativity, and innovation – they take magic and make it accessible to us via real-world applications. To say we’re happy to have them sponsor us is an understatement – they embody vision, and we’re no less than excited to have them behind us on this project!

In the last few weeks, we’ve had a lot of things happen…a successful funding campaign, and a push through on the post-production side of things.

As time goes on, I’m going to continue to update things on this blog, and tell people a little bit about the learning process that’s been happening as well.

Thanks for your support, everyone – keep checking back!

moving on…

We’ve had a great success, folks – for those of you following this blog, we’ve completed all but the flashback shots of the film, which are coming up in the near future. We’re now working on post-production, editing, special effects, compositing, and getting this film ready for the world, and we’re glad to be this far…in just a short while, this film will be starting its submission round, with the hopes of being selected by a festival near you!

Keep watching here…

Digging in…

We’re going to be scaling back all content seen here for a while, as there is still a fair amount of work to do before this film is ready to be finished. Keep an eye on this page for future updates, and don’t forget to support your local universities and schools; this is a student project that wouldn’t have made it this far if it weren’t for the dedication of the students in the Film and Theater and Recording Arts program at UC Denver.

Hulser and Page meet, and discuss the weapon of the future…

It was a beautiful shoot last week – Tom Doyle as Colonel Page, and Jessica Paddock behind the scenes in Production Design, making the barracks environment complete. Tomorrow, we shoot the final dialogue of the film, with Jon Diack as General Savage and Shawn Rickel of Big View Ranch as “Mister” Sladen.

Today, we ride…tomorrow, we shoot.

See you all next week…
